The Department of Philosophy & History of Science was established in 1992 and it operates as an independent Department. It is housed in three buildings, all of them located near the southern gate of the University Campus at Ano Ilisia (7 Imitou Street).
The Faculty building hosts the offices of faculty members (DPHS currently has 25 faculty members and 5 professors emeriti), the Registrar, as well as a small seminar room.

The Registrar is open to students and the general public on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11:00-14:00.

The Library and Lecture Halls building (located 300m north of the faculty building) hosts the Library, the Lecture Halls and the Seminar Rooms. The Library is open on weekdays from 09:00-16:00.

The duration of studies at DPHS is four (4) years, consisting of 8 semesters. In order to graduate, DPHS students are required to pass 36 compulsory courses and 12 elective courses or seminars, to submit a dissertation (under the supervision of a faculty member) and to attend an "Introduction to Computer Science" Workshop. In total, they should collect 153 credits.
