The theme of my Phd research is Scientific Terminology and Conceptual Change. A research into 17th and 18th-century natural philosophy primary sources

The research of conceptual change in natural philosophy sources is based on the convergence of History of Concepts and History of Science. The aim of this kind of research is to unfold the multiple conceptual layers that build up the final form of a scientific concept, specifically the concept of force in natural philosophy. This involves not only the study of the natural philosophical dimension of the concept, but also its non-natural philosophical dimensions, such as, the theological, political or social ones. Thus through the study of different historical contexts, I aspire to examine the question: “How does the non-natural philosophical aspect of the concept of force affect its natural philosophical aspect resulting in the construction of force’s diachronic form?”. Understanding the way through which the concept of force is formulated synchronically and diachronically into a variety of temporal frameworks, enables us not only to move beyond the distinction of internal and external historiography but also to analyze the scientific concept as a channel that connects different aspects of social history.
