Title of PhD proposal:

History of Research & Technology Policy in Greece: Institutions and Initiatives.

Project description:

My PhD thesis focuses on the Greek State Policy for Research and Technology over the last 50 years, from 1960 until now. By tracking down historically the most important facts regarding the Greek R&T organisation and administration, this project aims to present the creation and the evolution of the Greek R&T system. At the same time it attempts to make a qualitative and quantitative assessment based on the achievements and setbacks of each decade and investigates their consequences on the growth of the economy and the competitiveness of our country. In parallel, it contrasts the European and international R&T policies that were developed at each period of time, presenting comparatively the actions and reactions of Greece, solely or in combination with them.
